Hello again, party people!
With Halloween properly creeping up on us now, we thought it was high time for something a bit different, a full hosting guide for anyone planning their own spooky bash this year. Whether you’re doing a small get-together or going all out, here’s everything you need: themes, games, treats, and a few safety must-knows.
Four Unique Halloween Party Themes 🕸️
1. Classic Spooky Manor
Think cobwebs, flickering candles (battery ones, obviously), and a dash of haunted-house drama. Great for a mix of ages and easy to build on with whatever decorations you’ve already got stashed away from previous years.
2. Neon Monster Mash
Swap traditional black and orange for blacklight, glow sticks and neon face paint. This one’s brilliant for older kids and teens who want something a bit more of a “party” than a “spook,” think disco energy with a Halloween twist.
3. Little Monsters (Under-7s Edition)
Softer, friendlier, and far less scary, think cute pumpkins, friendly ghosts, and games that won’t end in tears. Perfect for younger ones who want to join the Halloween fun without the nightmares afterward.
4. Pumpkin Patch Garden Party
If the weather allows, an outdoor pumpkin-patch theme is a lovely alternative to an indoor scare-fest. Hay bales, pumpkins to decorate, and warm drinks make it feel cosy rather than creepy.
Halloween Party Games That Always Go Down Well 🎮
- Pumpkin Decorating Station – no-carve options with sharp knives and mess-free, paints and stick-on features work brilliantly for younger guests.
- Mummy Wrap Relay – toilet roll, teams, and a race to “mummify” a teammate first. Always a hit.
- Spooky Scavenger Hunt – hide Halloween themed clues or treats around the garden or house for guests to track down. You can make up your own clues and lets some of the younger ones ‘go first’.
- Freeze Dance (Monster Mash Edition) – a Halloween playlist and a simple freeze then dance game works for literally every age group. Just turn the music down and see if they stay still for a few seconds. A few test runs are a must if you have younger children. Have a small prize ready for the winner and a selection of sweets for anyone that takes part.
- Guess the Sweet – a blindfolded taste test using a few of our pick ‘n’ mix favourites, simple, cheap, and always a laugh. Add a few hot and spicy or sour ones in for the teens to make them have fun too.
Halloween Treats Guests Will Actually Want 🍬
No Halloween party is complete without the sweet treats, and this is very much our area of expertise. We’d recommend:
- Spooky-themed sweetie bags for guests to take home
- Pumpkin and ghost-shaped pick ‘n’ mix bundles
- A “mystery mix” bowl for guests to dip into (always goes down a treat, quite literally)
If you want help putting together a bundle for your specific theme, just drop us a message, it’s genuinely one of our favourite bits of the job.
Halloween Safety Tips Worth Remembering ⚠️
- Keep decorations away from candles and heat sources, battery tea lights are a much safer bet than real flames.
- Check costumes for trip hazards, long robes and oversized shoes are a classic Halloween stumbling block.
- Be mindful of allergies when putting together sweet bags or treat bowls, a quick check with parents goes a long way.
- Light up the outdoors if guests are arriving or leaving after dark, a few extra outdoor lights or glow sticks make a real difference.
- Supervise younger guests closely around any games involving blindfolds or quick movement, better safe than sorry.
